Seasons Part 1: Growing up NOT Covering up!

Seasons Part 1: Growing up NOT Covering up!

Seasons;

I thank God for seasons, in the earth and spiritually. For me, seasons are chapters i.e. “A distinct period or sequence of events, as in history or a person’s life”. When certain things keep happening (to you) or you feel a certain way for a period of time, that could be a season in one’s life.

The bible states in Ecclesiastes 3:1-22 “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;”

Knowing this you can be certain that nothing just happens; rather the God Of Seasons is up to something. (read more here)

Is it therefore important to be aware of what Season you are in within yourself. Preparation is paramount and here’s why…

When the British Summertime finally kicks in, be it in August for a day or two, you would want to have the right clothes/shoes to set out to the beach & bbq’s right? Same thing in the spirit. When God has a new season/chapter for you, YOU HAVE TO BE READY! Or you will miss the whole thing and have to wait till it comes back around again. Same way if you are absent for summer, you will be waiting a whole lot till the weather report is fibbing you of 20+ temperatures. And you do NOT want to miss the season God has for you because [I believe] it will be better than your current.On the contrary, seasons can also be bleak. Winter is my least preferred season because I generally flourish in sunshine. Having said this, IF it was not for such torturous times, I would not appreciate and be thankful for warm pleasant summer days. Well, SO IT IS in the spirit. (I think you get the gist) Most things in the earth are an allegory to your spirit.

Having said all this, seasons are therefore a time to fix up, grow up and get ready for change. We often express a hope for change in succinct statements such as “I feel like it’s going to be a good day”..”I feel like I’m growing up”..”I can see light at the end of the tunnel”. This may not necessarily be the case at the present moment as your hope is an expected end before you see the results. That feeling you get of “things will not always be bad”, take that as massive flashing red-light that change is on the way. When you have a hope that things will not always be the same 1. Thank God 2. Get Ready and clean up house, rather, clean up your life.

Spring Cleaning;

Spring cleaning is the practice of thoroughly cleaning a house in the springtime. The practice of spring cleaning is especially prevalent in climates with a cold winter.The most common usage of spring cleaning refers to the yearly act of cleaning a house from top to bottom which would take place in the first warm days of the year typically in spring, hence the name. However it has also come to be synonymous with any kind of heavy duty cleaning or organizing enterprise. A person who gets their affairs in order before an audit or inspection could be said to be doing some spring cleaning.

Need I say more? It’s time to get your affairs in order. Be it April or December, one (myself included) ought to be sensitive to the events in their life and make a reflective assessment of Life So Far and not continue day to day as if life is a precarious moment. That is one of the reasons we as people don’t grow and move forward. We have not taken the time out to look back at what went wrong/right, what you could’ve done to prevent/encourage it and move on. Some people get stuck at the stage of looking back, figured it was a complete disaster and there is no way of moving on. Well, there is my friend, “where there’s a will there’s a way –  meaning that if you are determined enough, you can find a way to achieve what you want, even if it is very difficult” You want to change? But don’t know how, at least you’ve made the wise decision to realise that your current situation is not for you and you need to get out of there before you fall back into the cycle of defeat. If you miss your train of change (today) Lord knows when such grace to change will rest upon your shoulders. Take the chance, to believe God [by Faith] that he can prepare you from whatever it is you have been stuck in, ready to deliver you into the place in which you belong, Back To Bethel.

See the thing with change, it does not come easy *cliché levels tun up* but it IS worth it. Real change does not come easy because it requires to confront the dust you have been storing up during your difficult chapters. The cobwebs you have swept under trying to avoid the harsh weather outside and you have protected and covered up for so long, you don’t even know what it is you’re storing! Real change will require you to invoke God for the grace and strength and most importantly to ask God “What is my next step?”  My dirty laundry may not necessarily be the same as yours, but it is still dirty, and it needs to aired ASAP. The same process of physical laundering applies to spiritual laundering. The first step… BRING ‘EM OUT BRING ‘EM OUT!!! (hahaha)Not actually but this means approaching God, at the throne of grace, to receive mercy and find grace to help you in your time of need

“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” – Hebrews 4:16

People are scared of God, as we should be with reverence, but we should not be scared to approach a loving, merciful and kind God. Christianity, like any relationship, is a two-party system, except with God “there are no surprises”. A man might reject you for your honesty, some people will never even speak to you again for feeling how you felt. But with God, YOU KNOW exactly what you’re getting.He said it in his word;

“The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” – Lamentations 3:22-23

 The mercy and the grace is abundant, New every morning. Your part is to approach the throne with confidence. Boldly ask for what is rightfully yours (through the Blood of Jesus) and receive it! Simples! The verse doesn’t say come under condemnation, feeling sorry for yourself, in uncertainty, rather come believing that because you have approached God in the season of change he will do.That is why I write, to share the faith & confidence I have in God,not to show-off or sound like I know my stuff. I am just learning and depending on God for everything else but [I believe, by Faith] that nothing I write is in vain, or in my own glory, rather for his glory. So you’ve brought out the laundry, i.e. received the mercy and grace, Now what!? Clean Up That Mess!

Scrub Scrub Scrub;

 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” – 1 John 1:9

Often I’ve read/heard this verse without really magnifying the importance of the win-win deal breaker plainly laid out to every believer. Again we see the two-way relation between God and Man, if we confess.. he is faithful and righteous. Another interesting point I heard in preaching is that yes our sins will be confess but God also CLEANSES us i.e.”To free from dirt, defilement, or guilt; purge or clean.” [I believe] this is a continuous process through healing of which all traces of past seasons. The harsh times, the filthy times the times. Sin is missing the mark altogether, which we are all susceptible to. Unrighteousness however, [I believe] is knowing the truth but making the choice not to act on it. And the stains of unrighteousness will need cleansing. In order to move forward and grow into the you God has created you to be, you need deep cleansing, thorough cleaning…

“If one person sins unintentionally, he shall offer a female goat a year old for a sin offering. And the priest shall make atonement before the Lord for the person who makes a mistake, when he sins unintentionally, to make atonement for him, and he shall be forgiven… But the person who does anything with a high hand, whether he is native or a sojourner, reviles the Lord, and that person shall be cut off from among his people. Because he has despised the word of the Lord and has broken his commandment, that person shall be utterly cut off; his iniquity shall be on him.” Numbers 15:27-31

There is a demarcation between unintentional sin and the sin of a high-hand Hebrew, “with an high” or “uplifted hand”–that is, knowingly, wilfully, obstinately. But there is a solution to all sin and unrighteousness, Jesus Christ. “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” 2 Corinthians 5:12 Plain and simply put, not subliminal or incoherent. Jesus became sin so that we may become the righteousness of God.

Jesus taught that true righteousness is not that which men regard as righteous based upon external appearances, but that so judged by God based upon His assessment of the heart: “And He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts; for that which is highly esteemed among men is detestable in the sight of God”” Luke 16:15 – More Here

So it is your heart and your confession that God is waiting for. Confess your sins, and I’m talking real confession. Not the stuff you don’t address in prayer as if God wasn’t there when you did it, not the stuff that you’ve thought about as if God doesn’t know your thoughts. Say it all! Some People think “Well, If God knows it all anyway what am I doing telling him what he already knows?” That is the type of stagnant thinking that will prevent your season of change, an enemy of progress. Confession and Prayer are activating agents which cause the blood of Jesus to scrub scrub scrub! You see when we are filled with sin and unrighteousness it prevents the flow of God in certain areas of your life; Hence you wonder “Why am I not progressing in my job, Why am I always broke, Why do I always meet the same Jane Doe’s” You have been covering up and attempting to get away with murder.

Now is a new chapter, a new season, a new day, full of new mercies and abundant grace. The blood was shed over 2000 years ago, and it still works today; In fact it never does lose power, never did and never will. More Here Think about it this way, if you were trapped in a room, cold, dark and weary, and there was a door to get out and all you needed was to get up and get the key (which was right in front of your eyes), eventually you would get so fed up of being in the dark room you will get up, get the key and open the door. The cold dark room is your old life, The door is new chapter, The key is Jesus and the getting up is your part, your part is to pray, confess and believe!

Feel free to be bold and air out your laundry, don’t let a new season catch you unprepared and get excited for all the new and good and acceptable things God has in-store for you. And if today is just not the day for you, the method is there and always will be but  there is no time like the present to clean up house!

Remember:

You are loved, You have a purpose, You were created to be free and express the God in you without the baggage from the past.

Change is a gift to grow, embrace it and challenge yourself. Refuse to be trapped there is always, and I mean ALWAYS a way out.

Ask God to show you which way to go, and to continuously order your steps and you will begin to witness the miracle that is the Love of God.
